Letters from the heart è l'ultima novella pubblicata da Rose Fairbanks basata su una variazione della storia originale narrata in Orgoglio e pregiudizio.
Circa una anno prima della sua pubblicazione, questa storia fu condivisa su internet con il titolo The best laid plans e poi come Knowing you by heart. Successivamente l'autrice ha deciso, prima di raddoppiare la sua lunghezza e poi di allungarla ulteriormente, lasciando così più spazio alla magia che permeava i personaggi e la loro storia. Infatti, quello che resta della stesura originale dell'opera oggi si riduce ai primi tre capitoli della novella.
Mi piacciono davvero molto i libri scritti in forma epistolare, e per quanto questo non sia interamente tale, ho adorato che le vicende ruotino attorno all'errato invio di due lettere. Per quanto il pretesto sia un po' banale (com'è possibile che entrambi i personaggi si siano sbagliati e si siano inviati l'un l'altro una lettera nell'arco di 24 ore?) le vicende che si svolgono attorno a questo sono talmente ben costruite da coinvolgere il lettore e tenerlo incollato al libro fino alla fine.
Le lettere, introdotte dopo che Darcy ha lasciato Netherfield insieme a Mr Bingley, sono lo strumento attraverso il quale Darcy ed Elizabeth possono fare chiarezza in se stessi e scoprire i propri sentimenti, arrivando alla stessa conclusione dell'opera originale affrontando meno avversità.
Mi è piaciuto molto che in questo racconto Mr Bennet non sia indolente come al solito ma piuttosto decida di reagire cambiando le sorti di tutta la famiglia. Sarà così che egli cercherà di "raddrizzare" le figlie e di recuperare il rapporto con sua moglie Fanny. E' proprio tra i due vecchi coniugi che si svolgono alcune delle più belle scene di amore e tenerezza. Inoltre, è stato bello conoscere di più circa il loro passato insieme e di come sia stato creato il vincolo sulla tenuta che porta tanti problemi alla famiglia.
La storia di Lydia è interessante, per quanto riguarda il suo cambiamento e il suo miglioramento, ma credo che la sua storyline potesse essere svolta in modo diverso.
Questo racconto è ottimo per chi vuole rientrare nel mondo di Orgoglio e pregiudizio, come se si andasse a trovare un vecchio amico, perché è una lettura leggera ma molto bella.

Letters from the heart is the last novel published by Rose Fairbanks based on a Pride and prejudice variation.
One year before its publication, this story was shared on internet with the title The best laid plans and than as Knowing you by heart. Later the author choose, at first to double its length and than to extend it more, leaving in this way more space to the magic of the characters and their story. In fact, nowadays the original plot is present only in the first three chapters.
I really like books written in letters form, and even if this novel is not entirely made by letters, I adored that the plot turn around two missending letters.
So far as this pretest is a little bit banal (how is possible that the two characters missending one letters one to another in the same 24 hours?) the plot is well written and it captivate the reader who is glued to the book till the end.
The letters, introduced after Darcy leaves Netherfield with Mr Bingley, are the tool thanks to Darcy and Elizabeth can make clear their feelings, and the both reach the same conclusion dealing with less adversities that in Pride and prejudice.
I liked to see a not lazy Mr Bennet who reacts changing the sorts of all his family. He tries to adjust her daughters' behaviour and to recover the relationship with his wife Fanny. It is exactly between the old couple that the author develops the most lovely and tendresse scenes. Moreover, it was beautiful to know more about their past together and the creation of the house bond that creates a lot of problems.
Lydia's story is interesting, especially for her transformation and her improvement, but I think her story could be carry out in a different way.
This novel is a must read for the Pride and prejudice fan because it is a light and beautiful read and it is like to make visit to an old friend.
